Like most people who live in Scotland, our staff are no strangers to wind, rain and cold weather so this run of sunny, warm weather is a pleasant and very welcome change – especially for our staff out on streetwork!
The streetwork programme is designed to make contact with young people who choose not to access more traditional youth work such as our drop-in service. Contact with the young people we meet is based around what they need and want. We may simply signpost onto other services or we may develop stronger relationships over a period of time to support young people.
With the school holidays now in full flow we have increased our streetwork programme so that we are running more sessions and are able to make contact with even more young people. We having been out and about and our purple t-shirts and hoodies are becoming quite a familiar sight, not only in Wester Hailes but also Sighthill, Broomhouse and Longstone.
Although the weather looks set to change, our staff will continue to be out and about throughout the holidays and into the new school year when our streetwork programme will run in the evenings.
