The Youth Agency Award for Personal Achievement is awarded annually at the Forrester High School award ceremony. It’s not an award that goes to the best academic performance but to a young person that has grown and flourished, often in challenging circumstances.
We are delighted to present this year’s award to Kodie Addison.
The Youth Agency has worked with Kodie throughout her six years at high school, starting with a group work programme in S1. From the outset, her natural ability to lead, to include others and to ensure they felt listened to was obvious.
Her time at Forrester high school has not always been easy. There may even have been times where she didn’t think she would make it to the end of S6 but her courage, determination and resilience not only got her there but allowed her to blossom. She has begun volunteering at a local youth project and her kind and caring nature has made her a natural at this.
Her outgoing personality, witty sense of humour, unfiltered honesty and way with words has helped her build lasting relationships with students and teachers. Kodie speak her mind and stands up for what she believe in and we think this will see them go far.
As Kodie leaves school and begins a career in youth work we are confident that she will be a role model, will inspire others and will go on and change many young people’s lives. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for you.
