As May draws to a close, we are offering a short insight into our Individual Support service.
This service for young people is very much needed and has been growing significantly year or year for some time.
It offers a safe space and time out for young people that need one to one support with a trained youth worker at difficult or challenging times in their life. This support is free and, critically, offered to young people when they need it.
Like all of our services, our Individual Support service is young person centred and we work with the young person as partners on the issues that are important to them. These issues can range in nature and may include mental health, difficult or chaotic home lives, challenging transitions, health and sexual health, relationships and friendships.
We don’t set an agenda and we are there for as long as the young person needs us. Sometimes this is just a few weeks but, on occassion, young people may need support for several years. When formal support ends, our door is not closed and we always ensure that young people know where and how they can contact us.
