Our Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) programme is nearly complete in school for another year. Our S6 mentors have worked exceptionally hard over the last 12 weeks learning and practicing MVP lessons. They have spent the last two weeks working with S1 pupils to deliver inspiring lessons to their younger peers that both highlight bullying, aggressive and violent behaviour and offer helpful suggestions to tackle it.
S1 pupils have reacted extremely positively to the peer mentoring approach and to the lessons the senior pupils delivered. We have had a lot of positive comments some of which are:
“I have learned there are many ways to deal with bullies.”;
“I have enjoyed talking about this. I have learned not everything is a joke.”
“We learned that it is okay to have emotions and it has changed my feelings on bullying.”
We thank all of our mentors for their hard work and hoped that they enjoyed seeing it pay off!
