Wester Hailes Youth Agency, LGBT Youth Scotland Charter Mark Winner
That the Parliament congratulates the Wester Hailes Youth Agency on, it understands, being the first organisation in south west Edinburgh to be awarded a LGBT Youth Scotland Bronze Charter Mark; notes that the LGBT Charter is a programme that enables organisations to proactively include LGBTI people in every aspect of their work, protect staff and provide a high quality service to customers or service users; acknowledges that the youth agency began its charter process in 2017 and that this included looking at existing policies and practice, raising awareness, training staff, celebrating LGBT events, taking part in community and national awareness-raising campaigns and ensuring that it is a welcoming and inclusive place for all young people; recognises that it produced an evidence-based portfolio demonstrating best practice and undertook positive engagement and outreach work with Forrester High School and across the Wester Hailes, Sighthill, Broomhouse, Parkhead and Longstone communities, and commends its staff and the young people involved with it on their hard work and passion in pursuing and achieving the Charter Mark.
