So following on from last months trip down memory lane with Clare, it is now Francine’s turn to share some of her funniest memories with us….and maybe a picture too!
What was your favourite type of music growing up?
New wave, punk and indie. Favourite band was, and still is, The Jam, although there will always be a space for Shaky in my heart.
What was your favourite game/activity?
Playing outside, manhunt, kick the can and roller skating.
What were you like when you were at school?
I had two personalities, I was either really good or really bad, but I did okay. I liked maths and modern studies best.
“When I was young”……….
Music was amazing, fashion was questionable, hair was big, the sun shone all summer long and it snowed proper snow EVERY winter.
Tell us a random fact that no one knows about you…
I kicked off the Easter holidays by having an emergency operation to take my appendix out when I was 7. I got the most Easter eggs ever that year.
What is your secret talent/party trick?
I don’t have a talent but I’m working hard to get one. At the moment, I’m thinking a talent for accents may be my thing.
What is your favourite memory of working at the Youth Agency?
There are lots of great memories but one of my favourites was a Christmas party when the young people there were really, really happy.
What is the funniest thing that has happened when you have been working?
When the alarm went off because an exit door had been nudged open and I mistook it for a fire alarm and evacuated the building. Oh, and Stevan’s face on the rope swing at Fordell Firs.
If you could invite anyone along to the Pyramid for a night who would it be and why?
Hmmm, a toughie, but Usain Bolt because I think the young people would love to meet him and he’d have a great story to tell.
Why/how did you become a Youth Worker?
I knew someone that did something similar and the idea grew on me over time. I wanted to give working with young people a try and, when I did, I found that I loved it.
What is the worst thing that has happened to you when you have been working?
There have been a few mistakes but I’ll go for the time I broke the computer database. Not my finest moment.
